JIM WYLIE

Gold Frame with white slip
This oil painting by Jim Wylie, titled Joiner's Lane, captures a bright, peaceful scene of a residential lane. The composition features a charming blend of nature and architecture: in the foreground, a tangle of lively branches and foliage, rendered in vivid purples, yellows, and deep blues, reaches skyward beside a brick wall. Pops of orange flowers add warmth and contrast.
In the background, soft sunlight bathes a row of cream-colored houses with dormer windows and sloping roofs, their chimneys standing against a partly cloudy sky. The street and pavement are suggested with loose, fluid brushstrokes, giving the scene an inviting, slightly dreamy atmosphere.

He is a member of Paisley Art Institute and contributes regularly to the annual exhibition, one of the largest of its kind outside Glasgow or Edinburgh, where he has been awarded prizes on three occasions.
