Artists Statement

My Scottish heritage is reflected in my painting.   The Scottish artists from the past, the Glasgow Boys and Scottish Colourists, influence me with their realism in landscape and still life.  Inspiration comes from the light and drama of the southwest coastline of Galloway and the Hebridean Islands.

For the last three years I have been working from my studio in the Stableyard at Drumlanrig Castle in Dumfriesshire.  I paint in watercolour, acrylic but mostly in oil and use whatever medium is most expressive of the subject.  Recently I have been adding new styles into my work and expanding my knowledge of creativity.
