Douglas studied at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art,
Dundee, where he gained a Diploma in Art and was awarded a Post D.A
scholarship. Other awards include

Douglas has shown in solo and group exhibitions in
Holland and Scotland, in many Edinburgh galleries and other
venues,.(including exhibiting with the Pete Luti). as well as
the R.G.I. and R.S.A.
His work is in private collections in France, the
Netherlands, Australia, New Zealand, Kenya, USA, and UK
(including the collection of HRH the Duke of Edinburgh)
He paints mainly still-life - principally in oils on gesso
.
In his compositions he frequently uses gold leaf for
additional contrasts in texture and light.
