Colin
Christie began drawing and painting in his early teens and went
on to study at Edinburgh College of Art and the Glasgow School
of Art.
He worked in Graphics and Architecture until 1984 when he
changed career and joined staff at the then Napier College in
Edinburgh. He lectured in Interior Design, Computer Aided
Design, Graphics and
Technology until 2001.
Since then he has worked as a freelance designer producing all
manner of computer generated graphics and visualisations for
Scottish and London based commercial clients. In 2006 he began
to think about painting again and encouraged by his wife
Margaret, he has set aside his Apple computer for an easel and
recaptured the joy of painting.
Colin strives to bring a freshness of colour and a sense of form
and space to a variety of subjects. He has developed a painting
technique that applies equally well to acrylics and oils.
Although 2007 is his first season his work is already featuring
in eight galleries and 3 exhibitions in Scotland. He gained a
3rd prize in an East Lothian Arts Festival open competition
judged by Richard Demarco and Edinburgh Arts have recently taken
his work for a series of
limited edition prints which will be available in August.
