Artist Statement
My paintings are inspired by the landscape and coast .The simple forms and use of texture illustrate an image of a memory of a particular place rather than a representation creating, naïve quirky landscapes. Images are simplified and shapes and colors develop into pattern.
My use of mixed media includes oil pastels,gouache,acrylics and pencil layering these different mediums and scratching beneath the surface to uncover hidden color, ideas for my paintings developing throughout each one.
My work as an interior stylist over the years has influenced my subject matter with my love of houses and pattern apparent in my work.
I take great pleasure creating a painting, it’s also lovely knowing that other people enjoy my paintings too!
