Jim Quigley

Prior to studying at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art, where he specialised in Drawing and Painting. Jim Quigley worked as a painter& decorator for twelve years.

On graduation, he painted for two years, supplementing his income by diving for scallops on the west coast.  In 1980 he completed teacher training at Jordanhill, where he met Peter Luti.

He has worked in various educational establishments and is currently teaching Art & Design at NotreDame High School in Glasgow.

As a keen angler and naturalist his work reflects a life-long passion for the Scottish landscape, from dramatic mist-covered mountains to quiet pastures and meadows. He has recently become increasingly interested in the  random layout of farms and yet how they, seemingly,  sit so naturally in their environment as perfect rural still-life’s.

Jim Quigley  lives in a cottage near the village of Fintry, Stirlingshire where he works from his studio, often interrupted by  his wife or daughter looking for a sharpener for an eyebrow pencil!
